Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Cultural Production in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Abstract (English)
In recent decades, Argentine society has experienced significant transformations in its middle sectors, marked by the emergence of new regimes of production, circulation, uses, and practices associated with entrepreneurship. This multidimensional and polysemic phenomenon is intertwined with cultural changes, new lifestyles, and the aestheticization of everyday life. Within this framework, this work presents preliminary findings from an ongoing research project in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The findings of this research are based on the analysis of data that combines qualitative and quantitative methods, including in-depth interviews, contextual observations, and secondary data, as well as the analysis of communities, events, and digital content.
We focus on uses of digitalization and recent changes in entrepreneurship and cultural production in Argentina. Specifically, we examine how digitalization has influenced the construction of entrepreneurial meaning in certain areas of cultural production and creative industries, such as design, fashion, and music, considering the broader social, economic, and cultural practices, representations, and processes. Special attention is paid to the articulation between productive logic and the intervention of new actors, as well as the emerging forms of mediation in the Argentine context, which configure a climate of self-regulation and self-demand. It is expected to contribute to the analysis of the transformations in Argentine cultural production post-pandemic, identifying the new dynamics of entrepreneurship, the challenges and opportunities posed by digitalization on the configuration of contemporary society and culture.
